ALL-DISTRICT BAND AUDITION INFORMATION

Audition Requirements
Students auditioning for the CDBA All-District Honor Band will follow the same requirements as the All-State Honors Band. The audition will consist of the following components:
  • Scales
    • Must be memorized
    • Time limit of 2.5 minutes for high school
  • Solo 
    • ALL instruments will play the designated cuts to the solo​
  • Sight Reading
    • ​45 seconds to prepare a short excerpt
    • Prepare without producing sound on the instrument

NOTE: Percussionists auditioning on snare and timpani have slightly different requirements (i.e. an extra technical exercise on snare and tuning by ear on timpani) and will NOT play scales. 

Please refer to the NC Bandmasters website for more information on audition requirements, including specific scale sheets with the required number of scales and ranges for 9-10 and 11-12. All additional questions should be directed to your student's band director.

CDBA HS All-District Band Solo Cut Information

Students will prepare an excerpt of the solos for All-District Band auditions. The 2025-2026 HS All-District Band Audition Cuts are listed for all instruments in the blue buttons linked below. 

IMPORTANT: Students auditioning on SNARE need to prepare the solo AND the technical passage. The excerpts can be found on pages 14 and 15 of the solo cuts of their respective grade levels below.

Cost:
The cost to audition is $10 per audition plus $10 school fee.

Audition Times:
Individual student audition times will be distributed to band directors in mid-December.
