ALL-DISTRICT BAND AUDITION INFORMATION
Audition Requirements
Students auditioning for the CDBA All-District Honor Band will follow the same requirements as the All-State Honors Band. The audition will consist of the following components:
Please refer to the NC Bandmasters website for more information on audition requirements, including specific scale sheets with the required number of scales and ranges for middle school students. All additional questions should be directed to your student's band director.
Students auditioning for the CDBA All-District Honor Band will follow the same requirements as the All-State Honors Band. The audition will consist of the following components:
- Scales
- Must be memorized
- Time limit of 3 minutes for middle school
- Solo
- Wind players and string bass will play designated cuts to the solo
- Percussion will play the full solo
- Sight Reading
- 45 seconds to prepare a short excerpt
- Prepare without producing sound on the instrument

CDBA HS All-District Band Solo Cut Information
Students will prepare an excerpt of the solos for All-District Band auditions. The 2024-2025 HS All-District Band Audition cuts are listed in the blue button linked below. NOTE: These cuts are for wind players and string bass only. There are no cuts to the percussion solos. Percussionists will play the full solo.
IMPORTANT: Students auditioning on SNARE need to prepare the solo AND the technical passage. Both of these excerpts are included in the button below marked "2025-2026 MS Percussion Solos."

Cost:
The cost to audition is $10 per audition plus $10 school fee.
Audition Times:
Individual student audition times will be distributed to band directors in mid-December.
